About ​Carmel College for Women


Carmel College for Women, a Christian college, was established in 1964 to fulfil the long felt need for an institute for higher learning for women in Goa. The site for the college was generously donated by Mrs. Thelma Da Costa Lourenco of Margao, whose dream of a women’s college has become a reality.
The college is permanently affiliated to Goa University in the faculties of Arts, Science, and Commerce. It is managed by the Sisters of the Congregation of the Apostolic Carmel, a Roman Catholic Congregation.
Carmel college situated on Margao-Cortalim highway, has a spacious and modern building with adequate facility for study, games and recreation and a large campus for expansion. Nestled at the foot of the hills, it is an excellent place for study and reflection. Carmel college caters to the educational needs primarily of Catholic students. However all women irrespective of caste, creed and status are free to seek admission.
The college is a NAAC (National Assessment and Accreditation Council ) Accredited institution. It has been awarded A Grade  by the NAAC, which is an  autonomous body  appointed by the  University Grants Commission.
The Carmel Higher Secondary Section was started in July 1975. Within 30 years of its inception, it has made giant strides towards offering an all-round education to the budding young girls of the state, particularly of the village of Nuvem. The courses of studies include the General streams of Arts, Science and Commerce. The Vocational Stream has three sections – Commercial Garment Designing and Making, Office Secretary ship/Stenography and Computer Techniques.

Dr. Ratnakar is affluent as Chief Editor and Publisher with a good number of International journals with ISBN and ISSN editions catering his academic fervour into almost all disciplines under the arena of Education and Research in vogue with exhaustive and meticulous care to be employed with a systematic and advanced mechanism of seeing through the research ethics of the papers called for towards the march of brilliance in genuine standards in the case of contributing to Journals of International reputation like the research offspring’s of IMRF with a way to go on.
